Day 17 - Gift

These bangles are from one of several beautiful sets of shalwar kameez outfits that were given to me when I visited Pakistan in 1993, after graduating college. I still have most of them in my closet, and they even survived the purge that accompanied our cross-continent move. My memories of Pakistan were my starting point for today's theme: "gift"

Hard to believe that trip was 13 years ago. My uncle Jim was my host while I was there. So much has happened since then, from the war on terror to the Red Sox winning the world series. Its unfortunate that Pakistan and terror are so often mentioned in the same breath. My strongest association would not be terror but generosity. With my uncle, I was able to visit many homes. The ubiquitous graciousness of my many hosts and hostesses was stunning. I received gifts from almost everyone I met. I keep them in a special stash, reminding me of that kindness.

Still no power at the house! Just glad for the sunshine and the library right now.

STILL no power? Wow. I guess you can't bake those yummy christmas goodies;-). We were worried you wouldn't get to post a new craft/project today. Throughout this blog we have learned you are a very creative person. Keep up the good work! 8 more days!
